Motorcycle Insurance in Kirkland, WA

Motorcycles in Washington fall under the same mandatory liability law as cars (25/50/10 minimum limits) and riders need a motorcycle endorsement. A good policy adds collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist, medical payments and coverage for custom parts and gear. We insure cruisers, sport bikes, touring bikes and scooters, and bundling the bike with auto and home is usually the cheapest route.

FAQ

Motorcycle Insurance questions, answered.

What Kirkland and Eastside clients ask us most often about motorcycle insurance.

Is motorcycle insurance required in Washington?
Yes. Motorcycles are subject to Washington's mandatory liability insurance law with the same 25/50/10 minimums as cars, and riders need a motorcycle endorsement on their license (RCW 46.20.500). We recommend higher liability limits and uninsured motorist coverage, because riders are far more exposed in a collision.
What does a motorcycle policy cover?
Liability for injuries or damage you cause; collision and comprehensive for your bike; uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage; medical payments; and optional coverage for custom parts, accessories, riding gear, roadside assistance and trip interruption.
Can I bundle my motorcycle with my auto and home?
Yes, and it is usually the cheapest way to insure a bike. Several of our carriers write motorcycles alongside auto and home and apply a multi-policy discount to all of them.
Do you insure Harley-Davidsons, sport bikes and scooters?
Yes: cruisers, touring bikes, sport bikes, dual-sports, scooters and trikes. Rates depend on the model, your riding record, storage and annual mileage, and some carriers offer lay-up discounts for the months the bike stays in the garage.
Does the policy cover my custom parts?
Standard policies include a limited amount for custom parts and accessories; if you have invested in exhaust, paint, bags or electronics, we add scheduled coverage for the actual value.
Can I get a lower rate with a safety course?
Most carriers discount for a completed motorcycle safety course and for years of riding experience without claims. Tell us about both when we quote.
